Nov 8: Popocateptl Volcano, Mexico

[View Photos]

Just a couple of hours outside of Mexico City (and four hours to get back), is the Popocateptl Volcano, located in the Parque Nacional Iztaccihuatl. It is not always visible due to the cloud cover, but best to get here early in the morning before the clouds roll in. There are many trails that you can hike along, assuming you can handle the high altitude. But, first grab a quesadilla (or two, or three) at the little food shack along the road before you enter the park. [View Photos]

I don't typically do this, but to download a zip file with copies of the pictures, use right click, then save as on the following file Popocateptl Zip File (this is a 3MB file).
